What is Woven Geotextile?
Product Definition
Woven Geotextile is manufactured by interlacing high-tenacity polypropylene (PP) or polyester (PET) flat yarns through precision plain weaving technology. This process creates a stable planar fabric structure with controlled and uniform pore sizes, effectively integrating soil separation and filtration functions into a single engineered solution.
Available in three distinct grades to meet diverse engineering requirements: Standard Grade (100-600 g/m²) for general civil engineering applications including road subgrade separation and railway ballast stabilisation; Lightweight Packaging Grade (50-300 g/m²) for cost-effective bulk material containment and temporary erosion control; and Geotube Specialist Grade (300-1200 g/m²) featuring ultra-high tensile strength specifically engineered for geotextile tube construction in coastal protection and sludge dewatering projects.
The interlaced flat yarn architecture delivers exceptional bidirectional tensile strength and dimensional stability, resisting installation stresses and sustained soil loads without deformation. The precisely controlled pore structure allows efficient water passage while retaining fine soil particles, preventing migration and maintaining long-term drainage capacity. PP and PET materials provide excellent resistance to acids, alkalis and biological degradation, ensuring reliable performance in aggressive underground and hydraulic environments for permanent infrastructure applications.

Ideal for permanent infrastructure and hydraulic projects. How Woven Geotextile Works

Working Mechanism
- Uniform Pore Formation: Interlaced flat yarns form uniform filter pores, allowing water passage while retaining fine soil particles based on controlled aperture size
- Load Distribution: High tensile modulus resists installation stress and soil loads, maintaining structural integrity under dynamic and static loading conditions
- Pore Stability: Stable woven structure prevents pore deformation and long-term clogging, ensuring consistent filtration performance throughout service life
- Chemical Resistance: PP material provides good acid and alkali resistance for underground and hydraulic environments, protecting against chemical degradation
- Long-Term Durability: Resistant to biological degradation and UV exposure (when properly covered), suitable for permanent engineering applications
Note: Woven geotextile should be protected from prolonged UV exposure (>30 days). If extended exposure is unavoidable, specify UV-stabilised grades or implement temporary cover measures.
