What is PP Geogrid?
Product Definition
PP (Polypropylene) geogrid is a rigid, open-grid structure manufactured from high-quality polypropylene resin through extrusion, sheet forming, precision punching and biaxial stretching processes. The resulting grid features regular apertures and high-strength junctions that create an effective mechanical interlock with granular fill materials.
The PicoGrid Series delivers exceptional tensile strength and modulus in both longitudinal and transverse directions (for biaxial configurations), enabling efficient load distribution and lateral restraint of aggregate layers. Available in multiple strength grades from 15 kN/m to 50 kN/m, the product accommodates diverse engineering requirements from light-duty access roads to heavy industrial pavements.
By integrating geogrid reinforcement into road base construction, engineers can reduce aggregate fill thickness by up to 30%, minimise differential settlement on soft soils, and extend pavement service life while achieving significant cost savings in material and labour.
Key Benefits
Bidirectional Strength
High tensile strength and modulus for uniform load distribution.Soil Interlock
Superior soil-aggregate interlocking mechanism preventing lateral displacement.Chemical Resistant
Resistance to acids, alkalis and environmental degradation.Stable Geometry
Stable aperture geometry with high junction efficiency exceeding 90%.Cost Effective
Reduces base excavation and aggregate fill by up to 30%.Fast Installation
Rapid installation without specialised equipment, all weather adaptable. How PP Geogrid Works

Installation Methodology
- Subgrade Preparation: Compact and level the base surface, removing sharp objects, stones or debris that could damage the geogrid during installation
- Geogrid Deployment: Unroll geogrid panels flat against the prepared subgrade with appropriate overlap (minimum 100mm) between adjacent rolls; avoid wrinkles or tension concentrations
- Aggregate Placement: Spread granular fill material from the centre outward using front-end loaders or dump trucks; prohibit direct vehicle traffic on exposed geogrid
- Compaction: Compact aggregate layers in lifts not exceeding 300mm thickness using vibratory rollers; initial passes should be parallel to geogrid orientation
- Layer Completion: Continue alternating geogrid placement and aggregate compaction until design pavement thickness is achieved; ensure prompt backfill coverage to prevent UV exposure
Note: PP geogrid installation requires no specialised equipment and can be completed rapidly by trained crews. Proper aggregate gradation and compaction are critical to achieving design performance.
